01Who we are
LMK Mobile Mechanic Services Ltd ("LMK", "we", "us") is the business responsible for the customer information collected through this website, subject to the actual processing arrangements described below. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 17381452, registered office Flat 5, 150 Duddeston Manor Road, Birmingham, England, B7 4JP.
The customer-facing brand LMK Mobile Mechanic refers to the same business.
02Information we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and carry out the work you ask for. Depending on which parts of the site you use, that can include:
- Your name
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Postcode and location or address details for the visit
- Vehicle registration

- Booking details including the service selected and the appointment date and time
- Service requirements and a description of the symptoms or work needed
- Enquiry messages you send us
- Vehicle sourcing requirements submitted through Find My Car
- Part-exchange information, where you choose to provide it
- Technical information such as your browser type, device type and pages viewed
- Cookie and local storage data needed to keep your session and booking progress working
03How we use your information
- Responding to enquiries and messages
- Preparing quotations and arranging bookings
- Providing mobile mechanic services, including ordering the right parts
- Identifying and checking vehicles from the registration you give us
- Sourcing a vehicle where you have asked us to look for one
- Customer communications about your booking or enquiry by phone, SMS or email
- Keeping the website and our systems secure and preventing misuse
- Understanding how the website is used so we can improve it
- Meeting legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations
04Vehicle registrations and vehicle data
When you enter a vehicle registration, it may be sent to official UK government vehicle and MOT data services so we can retrieve information about that vehicle, for example make, model, engine, fuel type, tax and MOT status or MOT history. This is used to identify the vehicle, quote accurately and bring the correct parts.
Retrieved vehicle information may be cached for a short period so repeated lookups of the same registration do not need to be sent again, and is stored against your booking or enquiry where one is created.
Vehicle registration numbers can constitute personal data where they can be linked to an identifiable individual. We therefore handle registration information in accordance with this privacy policy.
Being able to access official vehicle data services does not mean LMK is approved, endorsed or authorised by the DVLA, the DVSA or any other government body.
05Why we are allowed to use it
- To take steps at your request and to perform the service you have asked for (contract).
- For our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the business and this website, where that does not override your rights.
- To comply with legal obligations such as tax and accounting records.
- With your consent, where consent is the appropriate basis, for example optional marketing messages, which you can withdraw at any time.
07Payments
Online card payment is not enabled on this website at present. When it is, payment card details will be handled by the payment provider and this policy will be updated to name that provider before the feature goes live. We do not store full card numbers.
08How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet legal, accounting, tax, insurance and dispute-handling requirements.
Booking, service, invoice and transaction records may therefore be retained for longer than general enquiries.
Enquiries and vehicle-sourcing requests that do not result in a transaction are periodically reviewed and deleted when they are no longer reasonably required.
Where information is required in connection with an ongoing complaint, legal claim, warranty issue or dispute, it may be retained until that matter has been resolved.
10Your rights
Subject to the conditions and exemptions in data protection law, you can ask us to give you access to a copy of the information we hold about you, correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete, erase information where we are not required or otherwise entitled to keep it, restrict how we use certain information while a query is resolved, stop using information where you object and we have no overriding grounds to continue, and withdraw your consent where consent is the basis we rely on.
These rights do not all apply in every situation. For example, we may not be able to delete information we are required to keep for accounting, insurance or legal reasons, and we will explain the position if that applies. Contact us using the details on the contact page and we will respond.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website and the services change. The effective and last-updated dates at the top of this page show the current version.
