01Booking requests
Submitting the online booking form sends a booking request to LMK Mobile Mechanic Services Ltd. A requested slot is held for you for a short period while you complete the request. Submitting the form does not itself create a confirmed appointment.
The booking is confirmed once we confirm it to you, together with the agreed price for the work described.
If the requested slot is no longer available, for example because another customer confirmed it first, we will contact you to arrange the nearest suitable alternative.
These booking terms form part of our Terms & Conditions.
02Vehicle information
You are asked for your vehicle registration so we can identify the vehicle and bring the right parts and equipment. Where a registration cannot be looked up you can enter the make, model and other details manually.
Please tell us anything that affects the work, in particular:
- Modifications to the vehicle or its engine, gearbox, suspension or exhaust.
- A non-standard or replacement engine or gearbox, or a different variant to the one shown on the registration.
- Locking wheel nut problems, a missing locking wheel nut key or seized wheels.
- Recent work related to the fault, including work carried out by another garage.
- Accurate information about the fault, when it happens and any warning lights.
03Location and access
We come to the address you give us, so we need safe and lawful access to the vehicle. That means a reasonably level working area, adequate room around the vehicle to work and, where relevant, any parking permit, barrier code or gate access arranged in advance.
We cannot work in live traffic lanes without protection, on unsafe ground, or where site rules or local restrictions prohibit the work. We may decline to start, or stop work already started, where the working environment is unsafe or unlawful. Where that happens we will explain why and arrange a suitable alternative with you.
Where we have travelled to the agreed location and cannot reasonably carry out the booked work because the required access was not arranged, or the location is unsafe or unsuitable after the access requirements were explained to you, a wasted visit charge of £50 may apply. We may waive it in exceptional circumstances.
04Appointment times
Appointment times and arrival windows are scheduled from current availability and include an allowance for travel between jobs.
Traffic, weather, an earlier job overrunning, parts issues and other circumstances outside our reasonable control can affect arrival times. Where a material delay happens we will contact you and, if needed, agree another time with you.
05Diagnostics
A diagnostic appointment is a professional investigation into the symptoms you have reported. We test what can be tested at your location and explain what we find and what we recommend next.
A diagnostic fee is payable for the diagnostic work carried out, including where the fault needs further investigation, where the recommended repair is not authorised, where specialist workshop equipment turns out to be required, or where you decide not to proceed with the repair.
Not every fault can be conclusively identified in a single mobile visit. Intermittent faults, wiring faults and faults needing manufacturer equipment can need further testing. We will always tell you the position rather than fit parts speculatively.
06Parts
We source parts appropriate to the vehicle using the information you give us and the vehicle information obtained from the registration. Some parts have to be specially ordered, which can affect the appointment date.
Where a part has to be specially ordered, or the parts cost is significant, we may ask for advance payment covering some or all of the parts cost. We will tell you the amount and what it covers before the work is confirmed.
Parts supplied by LMK are covered by the applicable manufacturer or supplier warranty where one is available. Any such warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. If you think a fault may involve a part we supplied, please contact us so we can investigate it.
Customer-supplied parts may only be fitted by prior agreement. We do not provide a parts warranty for a component you supply, and you remain responsible for making sure it is correct and suitable for the vehicle.
Where a customer-supplied part turns out to be incorrect, defective or unsuitable after we have reasonably attempted the agreed work, the labour remains payable. Our workmanship warranty can still apply to the installation work itself, but it does not cover a failure caused by the part you supplied. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
07Additional work found on the visit
No additional chargeable work is carried out without your approval. Where we find work that was not part of the booking, we will:
- explain what we have found and why it matters;
- give you the additional price, or an estimate where the final cost depends on parts or further investigation;
- obtain your approval before starting;
- tell you whether it can be completed during the current visit.
08When a workshop is needed
LMK is primarily a mobile mechanic service and a large proportion of work can be completed at your home, workplace or the roadside. Not every repair can be carried out safely or practically at a customer location, because some work needs specialist equipment or controlled working conditions.
Examples include work needing a vehicle lift or four-post ramp, wheel alignment equipment, a tyre machine, MOT testing facilities, extensive dismantling or other specialist equipment.
Where workshop attention, recovery, collection or transport is required, that is discussed and agreed with you separately before it goes ahead. Third-party workshop, recovery or transport costs are not included in the original mobile service price.
LMK is not an MOT testing station and does not issue MOT certificates. We can prepare a vehicle for its MOT, carry out pre-test repairs and, where agreed, arrange collection, delivery or presentation to a test centre.
09Rescheduling
Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible if you need to reschedule an appointment. We will move the booking to the next suitable available appointment where possible.
You may reschedule free of charge where you give us at least 24 hours' notice before the appointment.
If you need to move an appointment at shorter notice, we would rather you kept the booking than cancelled it. For a first request to reschedule made within 24 hours of the appointment we may move you to another available slot without applying the £30 late cancellation fee.
Repeated late rescheduling may be treated as a late cancellation and may result in the £30 late cancellation fee. We may waive charges in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.
Where parts have been ordered specifically for your vehicle, rescheduling may depend on the availability and return conditions of those parts.
LMK may also need to reschedule an appointment because of severe weather, illness, vehicle breakdown, delays on earlier jobs, parts availability, unsafe working conditions or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. Where this happens, we will contact you and arrange another suitable appointment.
10Cancellation
You may cancel a booking by contacting LMK. Please give us as much notice as reasonably possible.
Cancellation is free of charge where you give us at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled appointment.
Where you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment, a late cancellation fee of £30 may be charged. We may waive it in exceptional circumstances at our discretion, and we will always tell you about any charge that applies before we ask you to pay it.
Where LMK has already ordered a part specifically for your vehicle, we will explain any non-recoverable cost before requesting payment for it.
Nothing in this section removes or restricts any cancellation or refund rights you have under applicable consumer law.
11Customer availability
Someone who is authorised to provide access to the vehicle and approve the work must be available or reasonably contactable during the appointment.
The vehicle keys and any required locking wheel nut key or security information must be available where needed.
If LMK attends the agreed location but cannot access the vehicle, cannot safely perform the work, or cannot contact an authorised person where approval is required, the work may need to be rescheduled.
Where the mechanic has travelled to the agreed location and cannot reasonably carry out the booked work for a reason within your control, a wasted visit charge of £50 may apply. Examples include nobody authorised being available, the vehicle not being present, the keys not being available, an incorrect address or location being given, required access not being arranged, or the working location being unsafe or unsuitable after the access requirements were explained to you.
The charge is not automatic. We will look at the individual circumstances, explain any charge that applies, and may waive it in exceptional circumstances.
12Payment
The agreed price for the booked work will be confirmed before LMK travels to the appointment.
Where additional work is identified, we will explain the additional cost and obtain your approval before carrying it out.
Standard bookings do not require a deposit. Unless otherwise agreed with you in advance, payment is due when the agreed work is completed. We will tell you which payment methods we can accept for your job.
We may ask for a deposit or advance payment where parts have to be specially ordered for your vehicle, where the parts cost is significant, where the job is higher value, or where the work reasonably requires us to incur material costs before attending. For specially ordered parts we may ask for advance payment covering some or all of the parts cost. For higher-value work the deposit is 50% of the agreed job price.
Where a higher-value job is booked through this website and a deposit applies, the booking screen shows you the total agreed job price, the 50% deposit payable at the time of booking and the remaining 50% balance before you commit. For example, on a job price of £500 the booking deposit is £250 and the remaining balance is £250.
Any deposit you pay is recorded against your booking and deducted from the final amount payable. The remaining balance is normally payable on completion.
Where online card payment is not available for your job, we will arrange a secure payment method with you before the appointment.
Where any deposit or advance payment applies, we will tell you the amount, what it covers, when it is due and any cancellation or refund implications before you commit to it.
LMK will not introduce an undisclosed deposit or payment requirement after a booking has been agreed.
13Complaints
If something is not right, please tell us as soon as possible so we can look into it. The complaints page explains how to raise it, what to include and what happens next. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
